Just six years into their “retirement” business, Gail & Tom Desrosier's The Eagle's Nest Gallery is growing!

The fanciful gift and art shop has expanded to accommodate additional lines of unique gift wear, seasonal items -- such as interchangeable flip flops by Lindsay Phillips -- and women's accessories, including Vera Bradley, cashmere scarves, beaded handbags and more.

The Eagle's Nest Gallery is the area's largest Vera Bradley Sterling Silver retailer, with a huge selection of handbags, accessories and stationery. They are also the area's only Premier Trollbeads Retailer. New to The Eagle's Nest Gallery this winter is Brighton Handbags and Jewelry. Beautiful soft leather bags and care free silver laminate jewelry. Last spring they introduced John Medeiros Jewelry Collection. We are proud to have a product that is made in East Providence, RI.. We truly believe in supporting "Made in America". Added to their unique collections is Danny K handbags which are also Made in America, California to be exact. They are wonderfully crafted tapestry handbags.

The Eagle's Nest is a destination gallery, by offering a variety of items you can't find in a big box store," says proprietor Gail Desrosier.

What sets The Eagle's Nest Gallery apart from other gift galleries is our commitment to supporting local artists as well as American Craftsmen from across the U.S.

A pottery and paint artist herself, Gail's involvement with The Westerly Artists’ Cooperative led Gail and Tom to open the coastal area retail shop when Tom retired from the Navy. Displays and shelves at The Eagle’s Nest are artfully appointed with affordable merchandise ranging from Trollbeads and funky jewelry to American-crafted blown glass, pottery and sculpture.

“We are a one-stop shopping gallery. We feel fortunate to be able to maintain our focus on promoting American-made artistry. Most people are not aware that most of the Vera Bradley products are now sewn in the U.S.,” Gail says.

Susan Stafford
Susan moved to Mystic, CT, in 1972 after graduating from Pratt Institute with a degree in Fine Art. Drawn to the charm of the region, she worked as a free lance artist for ten years before marrying Calvin Stafford, a naval submarine officer. Stationed in many different places over the next ten years, they were both pleased to return to the area and Susan was anxious to begin painting local scenes that would have a special appeal to its residents and started the Sense of Community print series. She attempts to capture and convey the heart of this part of New England for the pleasure of those that live here and visit and for others that still remember this as home. To date, there are 10 paintings in this series. Currently Susan teaches art, exhibits locally and serves as Vice President for the Council for Christian Arts - New London County.Send your email to drawnbysue@aol.com

Gail attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and received a degree in commercial advertising from Bryant & Stratton. She furthered her studies in clay and jewelry at Hofstra University on Long Island. In 1980, she started GJ Designs as a silk screened stationery and print business. After a few years, Gail began to market her line of beaded jewelry, which included some clay work as well. In 1990, Gail opened a Wildflowers Gallery on Long Island where she exhibited her work. In 1994, she quite her full time job with the Defense Department as an Office Administrator and closed the gallery to devote her time solely to her craft. Now a well-established artist for more than 20 years, Gail regularly attends the Buyers Market of American Crafts in Pennsylvania, where she exhibits and sells her work. Her work has been purchased by The American Folk Art Museum, The American Crafts by Robbie Dean, Craft Company #6, and Pacific Gallery, to name a few. Gail's hand-painted functional ceramics are showcased in fine galleries throughout the United States and Canada. Her work is inspired by her love of flowers and forms in nature. Her hand-built clay tiles are in bas-relief style that are framed and are a one-of-a-kind.

Gail is married to Tom, a retired Navy Commander, and they live in CT with their two Springer Spaniels.They have two adult children. In 2006, Tom and Gail opened The Eagle's Nest Gallery in Westerly, RI, where Gail's work can be seen.
